Far away from Bengal, a group of friends in Jodhpur once found themselves longing for the familiar sounds of the dhaak, kashor, shankh, the fragrance of shiuli, and the joy of Durga Pujo. With limited means, they could only recreate a small Saraswati Puja, while their dream of celebrating Sharodotsav remained distant.
Years passed. The friends moved to Delhi, and their circle grew as more people joined their journey. Saraswati Puja returned, but the dream of bringing Uma home still seemed out of reach.
Then came a spring Holi celebration, where they finally decided: it was time.
In 2018, Probash & Co. was born, and that autumn, their first Durgotsav took shape in Chittaranjan Park, New Delhi.
What began as a small group of friends soon became a growing community of families, friends and well-wishers united by their love for Bengal and its traditions. Even through the challenges of the pandemic, Probash kept the spirit alive through its annual celebrations and livestreamed events.
Today, Probash continues to bring people together for Durga Puja, Lakshmi Puja, Saraswati Puja, Pochishe Boishakh, and more.
Because Probash is not simply about being away from home. It is about carrying a piece of home wherever we go.
